MIKE HILL – PRODUCER, DIRECTOR, DOP

Mike is a multi-award winning filmmaker and content creator with dozens of hours of produced credits. His passion is in crafting incredible screen stories that inspire change.
Mike is a graduate of the prestigious Australian Film, Television and Radio School and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He founded Moonshine in 2010, inspired to build a creative social enterprise guided by values over vanity.
His past films have released theatrically, in major film festivals and been broadcast on dozens of networks around the world including Fox, Al Jazeera, Channel 7 and SBS.
Mike has worked extensively with Australian screen agencies Screen Australia, Film Victoria and Screen Tasmania, the Governments of New Zealand and Fiji, as well as leading international non-government organizations including Open Society Foundations, Lien Foundation, the Union for International Cancer Control, the Nando Peretti Foundation, CIMB Foundation and the National Heart Foundation.
Mike’s travels have taken him to over 30 countries in Australasia, Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and North America, where he has witnessed the power of personal stories that connect all of us through universal themes.

SUE COLLINS – PRODUCER

Sue is a experienced documentary film producer, drama film production manager and skilled researcher. Her passion is in creating work that directs benefits others.

Sue is a graduate of the renowned Victorian College of the Arts and was the First Assistant Director to Academy-Award winning filmmaker Adam Elliot on Mary & Max (2009).

Her past films have been acknowledged with a multitude of awards and her work has reached millions around the world, shaped Government policy and led to the development of several important social initiatives.

Sue’s interest in public education projects began when she was studying at the VCA. She worked on a number of productions focused on educating audiences about refugees, the stolen generation and later working with Plan B, a renowned theatre project for men recently released from prison.

Sue has traveled extensively in her role, including to China, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, Greece, the UK, Ireland, the USA and Canada.

HAMISH JOHNSTON – MULTI PLATFORM DESIGNER / ASSISTANT EDITOR

Hamish Johnston is a gifted multimedia artist who specializes in film editing, digital design and development. His passion is in designing original interactive work that reaches out and engages audiences in new and innovative ways.

Hamish is a graduate of Victoria University and holds a certificate of Application Development for the Apple iOS. He has previously worked in Los Angeles and has collaborated with major sports and entertainment brands.

His past work has innovated and reached huge audiences driving consumer and audience engagement in dozens of countries around the world.

Hamish is a gifted multimedia/ app designer and motion graphics artist who has developed a knack of utilising third party popular entertainment assets from big studios like Universal, MTV and Paramount and transforming them into reimagined works of art that maintain the integrity of the originating material.

He has led the creative and multimedia design for impact films Take Heart (2015), Little Stars (2015), Common Ground (2013) and LIFE Before Death (2012) as well as the world’s first interactive stand-up comedy series Jokes On You starring Eddie Ifft (2011).

Hamish participated in Screen Australia’s Enterprise Asia program which was paved the way to the major international co production Adventure Tasmania (2016).

ALEX ARCHER – EDITOR

Alex Archer is a screen editor whose work has been nominated for and won various awards, including two Emmys, a Peabody, an AIB and several RTS awards.

He is an experienced multi-award winning documentary editor with credits including Take Heart: The Quest to Rid Australasia of Rheumatic Heart Disease (2016), Uranium: Twisting the Dragon’s Tail (2015), Tony Robinson’s Tour of Duty (WTFN for History), Bodyline: The Ultimate Test (Serendipity West for ABC), Devil Island (360 Degree Films for ABC and ITV), Murdoch (Brook Lapping & Electric Pictures for SBS (Australia, ITV UK and BBC World Wide), Inside the Meltdown (Mongoose Pictures and Quicksilver for This World BBC2 and Frontline WGBH), The Wounded Platoon (Mongoose Pictures for WGBH Frontline and BBC) and Pakistan’s Taliban Generation (October Films for Channel 4 and PBS Frontline World).

Alex has previously collaborated with the Moonshine team on the mainstream broadcast documentary of Take Heart: The Quest to Rid Australasia of Rheumatic Heart Disease (2016), which is narrated by award-winning Australian journalist Mr Stan Grant.

Alex was the recipient of the Emmy, 2013 for Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story and multiple Royal Television Society Awards between 2010-2013.

ADAM STARR – COMPOSER

Adam Starr is a talented composer who has a worked on many of Moonshine’s previous productions including Take Heart (2015), Little Stars (2015), Common Ground (2013), LIFE Before Death (2012), The Man Who Souled the World (2007) and Tic Tac 2 Heelflip: Australia’s Skateboarding History (2001).

Adam has scored approximately 25 short films, 4 feature films plus music for television series, theatre and advertising. His original music has been recorded by different artists and bands on more than 15 CDs. Adam also composes concert music: he has written for soloists, chamber groups, Big Bands and orchestras. Adam’s compositions have been performed in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore and the UK.

Adam completed a Masters in Composition for the Screen at the Royal College of Music in London in 2005 and recently completed a PhD in Composition at University of Melbourne, on a full MRS scholarship.

KEITH THOMAS – SOUND DESIGNER

Keith Thomas is an AFI award-winning Sound Designer, winning Best Sound in a Documentary for his work on Vietnam Nurses (2005).

Keith is the founder of Alchemy Audio Post Production has previously collaborated with the Moonshine team on various projects including Take Heart (2015), Little Stars (2015), Common Ground (2013), LIFE Before Death (2012).

He was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal in the 2001 Queen’s New Years Honours List for his services to Australian society and Australian film production.

PROFESSOR DAVID HILL AO – EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Professor David Hill, AO, is a behavioural scientist whose career at Cancer Council Victoria spanned 44 years. Since his retirement in April 2011, David has worked with Moonshine Movies on a project basis.

Since 2011, David has helped Moonshine realize three projects: LIFE Before Death (2012), Little Stars (2015) and Take Heart (2015).

Professor Hill is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne. In 2001, Professor Hill was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for ‘services to the promotion of community health, particularly in the development of cancer awareness and prevention programs’. In 2009 he was awarded Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) for his work fighting cancer in Victoria, nationally and internationally over many decades.
